A Tale of Brenda's Golden Year...

Trevor here, with our monthly tale. This will be our last one for this year, but quite a golden one indeed! BOL Brenda had several milestones to celebrate this year.

Brenda celebrated her 30th work anniversary with the clinic, where she has been employed at, since June 2, 1988.

She became a 10 year brain tumor survivor on September 8th. Her nonmalignant right frontal lobe meningioma brain tumor was removed entirely, and a whole new life began for Brenda.

She was talking about this with her former boss yesterday, who happens to read this blog. He remembers her coming into his office, and requesting some time off to have surgery. Brenda was so calm about the whole thing. She definitely was in shock, as she told him yesterday. He also asked how the process worked, with where the tumor was removed, and if that gap grows back together.

Yes, it does. Brenda got to see the comparisons from when the meningioma was removed and how that gap was starting to grow together. Her bone flap was removed to perform the craniotomy and the tumor was easy to get at. It was ready to come out. Reminded Brenda, of that game of Operation, where you had to take various bones out with a tweezers, without hearing a buzzer.

Although Brenda's craniotomy was only 90 minutes, something definitely happened, while they used the Midas drill to get at the tumor. You do release that I'm a golden retriever, right? BOL That was no accident. Brenda wanted one for a storyteller and now I know why. Only took me about 8 years to figure it out. BOL

Yesterday, was 8 years that Brenda and I met for the first time. My name was being determined as she was awaiting my arrival. I guess there were some real winners in the running, but Trevor won out. BOL

Brenda's name is of English/Irish origin, and she also wanted mine to be the same as well. We are a team after all. BOL

Brenda has also lived with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) for 27 years. This week, a patient profile story was released about the beginning of her journey. CreakyJoints reached out to Brenda several months ago, to see if she would interested in sharing her story. Are you kidding? Of course she would be. Anything to spread awareness and HOPE, one of Brenda's favorite words.

We will end this tale by sharing the link, so you can check this story out for yourself. It has already resonated with some of her coworkers and friends.
