A Tale of Golden Connections...

Hello my fellow readers, it's Trevor with our September tale. This has been a week of celebrations. 2 very special golden retrievers that Brenda has connected with through social media had their Barkdays. BOL That's what we call them in dog lingo. Brenda also had a celebration herself. She officially became a twelve-year brain tumor survivor. She belongs to a special group of survivors, named the #12yearclub.

Brenda shared a beautiful story over at ParkerPup's Posse, another group we belong to. I say we, because they welcome me also. After all, I'm one of them, sort of. BOL

Gill who is ParkerPup's youngest brother and following in his big brother's paws as a therapy dog, celebrated his Barkday on September 7th. He turned 4. I remember when they brought him home as a puppy. That video was so cute. Gill lives with his human father and mother.

Reser who also celebrated his Barkday on September 9th, is one of the 3,000 heroes, enrolled in the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study, through the Morris Animal Foundation. We shared this when Reser was honored as our 1st Bark of the Month Recipient. He turned 7 and I also remember when they brought him home. That was our first year, following ParkerPup's Facebook page. He lives with Jenn, who was referred to as Parker's girl in the past.

As some of you know, ParkerPup sadly went The Rainbow Bridge in January of this year. ParkerPup's mission above all was to Spread Hope and kindness.

There was one detail in all of this that Brenda never had shared with the posse before. She was actually diagnosed with her brain tumor on August 26, 2008, which happened to be ParkerPup's Barkday. As some of you know, dates have become sort of a thing with Brenda, since this all happened. It's a brain thing, she has talked to other survivors and they can tell you the same thing. They remember the exact date of their brain injuries or craniotomies. Another interesting fact is that August 26th is always International Dog Day.

We thought this was a special tale to share, because Brenda's 12th Craniversary, fell right in between Gill's and Reser's Barkdays.  ParkerPup being the angel in all of this, had a special part in the beginning of Brenda's journey as a brain tumor survivor. That being his Barkday on August 26th, the same date as Brenda's diagnosis.

Brenda has always loved golden retrievers and to finally be connected in this way is simply pawmazing. BOL

Jenn made some scarfs and matching masks sets and Brenda thought it would be fun, if we were to receive one of those. I will share photos at the end of this tale. She even had a little note composed from Reser, how sweet was that? We received some other goodies too.

Who knew in 2013, how close we would actually become, because of one special pup, named Parker, who taught us; "Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, don't forget to SPREAD HOPE!"

I will leave you with those photos of our matching set.

Blogger's note: Since this was published, Reser has gone to The Rainbow Bridge. He will always be a golden hero in our eyes. We know his human family misses him greatly.
