Tale of an Arthritic Doggy
Hi Trevor here, with our special pawnouncement this month. We are unveiling our 2nd "BARK OF THE MONTH" recipient, that we think you should know more about.
Brenda connected with Lisa Z. on Facebook, who has become a dear friend. Lisa lives with Chronic Variable Immune Deficiency or (CVID). It means that her immune system attacks itself. Very serious stuff here... folks.
Lisa uses humor to cope and Brenda thinks she is a riot. As you know, Brenda loves dogs and Lisa posted about an arthritic Yorkie who had been surrendered to the Warwick Valley Humane Society in Warwick, NY. Before I go on, Lisa was kind enough to share her story with us. These are her words, which I will change a bit in my special dog lingo. BOL
Lisa sought out this dog, because it was an arthritic. I think that is pawmazing! As mentioned above, this dog was surrendered because of that reason. Lisa describes his challenges. "He had luxating patellas. His knees popped in and out. He was bow legged. He had the sweetest face. He couldn't walk when I met him." When she first went to the shelter to meet him, he was terrified. He was shaking like a leaf. She picked him up and he cuddled her. Pawmazing!
Lisa took him home. They began walking every day. He regained his mobility. That arthritic doggy's name is Frankie, who can now walk a mile. Lisa says that he limps, but so does she, which makes their bond so extra special. Remember about my mentioning about Lisa's special challenge? Right before she adopted him, she almost died because of her CVID. She gets what she describes as "crazy infections." Sweet Frankie, nurses her through the bad times. Lisa refers to him as her baby.
We thought it only fitting that Frankie be our February "BARK OF THE MONTH" recipient, because of the special bond between him and Lisa.
Here's to Frankie, who has defied the odds and now is a 12 year old sweet Yorkie.
Frankie is our friend on Facebook and we would never have had the pleasure of connecting with him, had it not been for Lisa adopting and providing him with a forever home.
We think Frankie is so cute, that we wanted to share a couple of photos, which Lisa gave us permission to do so.
Congrats to Frankie on being our February "BARK OF THE MONTH" recipient!

He is so precious. I'm always happy to hear about rescued babies. I'm so glad they found each other.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great story for sure. Thanks, for stopping by.
